What a Fun Weekend

We had a great weekend with Gigi and Jabo here in town. It is always so much fun having them around! This is a really short post because naptime is almost over :) and Kelly has a more detailed post on her blog if you want the whole story. (I snagged these pictures from Kelly's blog too since I haven't had a chance to get the pictures of the weekend from Gigi. Thanks Kelly!)

On Saturday morning we went to the splash fountain on MSU campus and Will had a blast!

Top Ten Pleasures of Being a Mom

I was totally inspired today by spending the morning with Dan and the kids and came up with some things I love about them. I absolutely love being a mom to Will and Andrew. It is the most fulfilling thing I have ever done with my life and I can honestly say that I love every minute of it. Okay, so yes there are times when I feel like I could pull my hair out or just want to run away to get some “me” time, but these feelings are fleeting and the overpowering feeling of joy that my kids bring me takes precedence. They make me excited to get up in the morning and see what the day is going to bring. So here are my top ten (very simple) pleasures that being a mom brings:

1. Watching your child drift off to sleep at naptime or bedtime. It is so peaceful.
2. Walking into a room and hearing your child singing the ABC song or Twinkle Little Star to himself.
3. Having your baby flash a big ear-to-ear grin simply because he likes seeing your face.
4. Knowing that you can fix almost any booboo with a kiss.
5. Driving down the road and dancing or singing like an idiot only to hear the sweetest giggles coming from the back seat.
6. Sharing the accounts of the day with Dan and having Will fill in the details by reenacting some of the events.
7. Watching your baby breathe and make the softest sounds while he is asleep. (Can you tell how I especially like them when they are asleep? :) )
8. Going shopping at Wal-Mart or Kroger with the kids. I know this may sound crazy, but it can be fun to have two little companions with you on errands, as long as it is a short trip and not around naptime or eating time.
9. Watching your child play in his tiny swimming pool and have the time of his life.
10. At the end of the day, sitting down with Dan and realizing together how much we love where we are in life! This is the good stuff.

Cute Cousins

We went over to Kelly and Brett's house tonight to have dinner together and see Baby Kate. She is doing so great and Kelly and Brett are the most natural parents. It is definetly a good fit for them! I know that we are going to have so much fun watching the kids grow up together. I can't wait!

Happy Dad's Day

Happy Father's Day, Dan! You are such an amazing dad! Thanks for all that you do. You are the rock of our family and we love you sooooo much!

2 month checkup

I took Andrew in today for his 2 month checkup. He is doing GREAT!! After getting off to a slow start, he has grown into a picture perfect baby. He weighs 10 lb 12 oz (50th percentile) and is 24 inches long (90th percentile). His head circumfrance was 40 cm (75th percentile). We have a long little boy on our hands! :) And, I was soooooo happy to hear that his weight is where it is supposed to be now. It is so much nicer going in for a well baby visit as opposed to a "not performing/jaundice baby" visit. :) God is good and He has blessed us with another beautiful, healthy baby. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Baby Kate!

Welcome to the world, baby Kate! Kelly and Brett had their baby girl, Katheryn Renee, on Saturday at 4:05 pm. She weighed 8 lb 2.7 oz and was 19 3/4 inches. She is absolutely beautiful and mommy and baby are both doing great! Congratulations!!

So not fair...Kelly looks beautiful even in labor! :)

So Proud

We have been working on potty training off and on for about 3 1/2 months, but I think that we can officially say that Will is potty trained now. He has not had any accidents in pull ups in over 2 weeks and he has started to wear big boy underwear for the past few days! YEAH! He was doing really well when we first started, but had a bit of a setback when the baby arrived...as expected. He is such a smart little boy and I am just so proud of him! I didn't dream that he would be able to potty train until much later, but am so happy that I was wrong. And yes, Dan was right! :) Way to go Will!!

Ohhhh that smile!

Our sweet little baby finally flashed us a smile! He smiled for the first time about a week ago, but we have not been able to capture it on camera until today...and here it is! I just love it! You can tell he is just getting the concept and hasn't gotten too much control yet, but it sure is cute!

Trip to Jackson

On Friday, we made our first trip to visit the grandparents in Jackson with the new baby. It was a spontaneous decision to go since we are on standby for Kelly's baby's arrival and didn't want to be too far if baby Kate decided to make her appearance.
We got to go by Amma and Papa's house on Saturday and they got a chance to meet Andrew in person. Will was so much fun over at their house keeping eveyrone entertained with his antics. He sang "Happy Birthday" to everyone and played the piano and even picked some blueberries with Nonnie and Papa. Amma and Papa loved every minute of it!

Then, on Saturday night, Molly, Kirk, and Emily Kay stopped by and we went swimming and ate dinner together. It was so much fun seeing them as always! Will once again was full of energy and lots of fun. He "washed" his truck with the hose. Just like a boy...loves to take care of his car!
Andrew took in all of the activity from his seat or in his favorite place, someone's arms! :)
