5K in Jackson

This weekend, Dan and I ran in our 2nd 5k. It was a benefit race for Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital and it was held in Jackson. So, we got to spend a fun weekend with Nonnie and Papaw! The race was on Saturday morning and was a really big race with lots of things to do for the kiddos too. Will spent most of his morning going between the jumpers and the snacks! :) Dan and I ran a good race and were pleased with our results.
And then, the little boys and I spent a couple of extra days into the week with Nonnie and Papaw as well. We had a great time as always spending the long weekend playing, shopping, eating, you know, all the good stuff! Thanks for having us, Nonnie and Papaw!

the finish...our actual finish time was 30 min. 6 sec., so we shaved about 2 1/2 minutes off of our race in October and ran under 10 minute miles(my personal goal). Yeah!


Running has become such a fun hobby that Dan and I can do together and Dan is sweet enough to run right beside me the whole time when he could certainly run circles around me if he tried. ;) We both enjoy getting some physical activity as well as giving ourselves goals to reach. I know that I will probably never win a race or even an age group for that matter, but I enjoy our new found sport nonetheless.

"I'm How Old!?"

10 months old!
It is hard to believe that our little guy is getting so close to a year already! It feels like time is flying by at warp speed. I'm just glad I take lots of pictures to remember all of this! :)
At 10 months, Andrew:
*loves to crawl
*loves Will and any attention from him
*is pulling up
*started waving bye-bye
*can say a few sounds like "da" for Daddy; "muh" for more; and the occassional "ma" for Mommy
*loves to dance and clap. Watching him start to move when he hears music is so funny!
*is an eating machine and prefers things he can feed himself like Cheerios and diced bananas
*is starting to wean himself off the bottle a little bit...prefers food to formula
*has been waking up some during the night and way too early each morning(Although, we are on a good streak this week, so, fingers crossed, we may be getting over this.)
*loves his mommy and wants to be right next to me at all times! :) (I think I can deal with that!)

Go State.....Go State!

On Tuesday night, we ventured to the Hump to watch the Bulldogs take on Kentucky in a very exciting basketball game. And I say ventured because tip off was at 8:00 and we were a little unsure of how the boys would do staying up wwwaaaaayyyy past their bedtime. But, they pulled through for us and we all had a great time at the game. This was Andrew's first bball game and boy, did he love it! He cheered and clapped and took note of everything going on around him. We sat next to some really nice Kentucky fans to whom Dan said..."You might have expected to sit next to a rowdy fan; you just might not have expected him to be 10 months old!" :) And rowdy he was! It was so, so funny!! I captured some of his theatrics on video, but as always is the case, I didn't get the best of the action. He was scaled down quite a bit when the paci was in his mouth. But, when he had something to say, he threw that paci out and started yelling!

Unfortunately the dawgs didn't pull out a win, but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. (And as a side note, I was really disappointed in the bad sportsmanship of many of our fans...mostly students. Sure, the refereeing was atrocious. But come on and act like a grown-up and not a coward who throws a fit when you don't get your way.)
All in all, it was a fun game and probably the most exciting game I have ever attended.
Oh yeah, and Will fell asleep in the middle of all the commotion toward the end. Not the baby, but the 3 year old! When that kid is tired, he can just pass out! Don't we all wish we had such an ability!

There were shirts in everyone's chair to make the checkerboard pattern throughout the coliseum. I think it turned out looking pretty cool!

Dan's B-Day!

Last weekend, we celebrated Dan's birthday. On Friday, Nonnie drove up to spend the night with us and we all went out to Cappe's for a delicious dinner. After dinner, we had a yummy king cake and Dan blew out the candles with a little help from big Will! (And yes...Andrew fell asleep on the ride home from the resturant, so he enjoyed the birthday party asleep in Daddy's arms.)

Will loved the singing card that Nonnie got for Dan. He danced and danced to "Down on the Farm."


We continued the celebrations through the weekend with breakfast on Sunday(his actual birthday). Will and I made cheese danish. Will is getting to be such a helper and especially loves to "help" in the kitchen. It can get pretty messy, but it is also really fun having him work beside me! He is my "big kid" now! :)

That evening, Kelly, Brett, Kate, Clay, and Michelle came over for a Super Bowl/Birthday party. I unfortunately did not get the camera out, but we had a great time with everyone. Happy birthday, Dan-O!

We Graduated from FPU!

No actual degree for me or Dan, but nevertheless, equally as exciting and rewarding. We just finished taking part in Financial Peace University (Dave Ramsey class) at our church. We met new friends at church, learned some financial strategies, and came out of the whole experience, changed for the better. We had already put the "Dave Ramsey plan" into effect about 6 months ago and so we were thrilled to find out that our church was offering this course to further encourage us on our "plan." If anyone gets the oppurtunity to take part in this class, I STRONGLY encourage you to do so. It is not only money talk, but general self-help and spiritual growth discussions as well. Some people complain about Dave's strong personality or strict rules, but we have found that his way works! It is hard and not always fun, but we are already seeing results after just a few months. I cannot wait until the day we are debt-free! I assure you the day that happens, there will be a HUGE blog post! :)
