June-bug is 10 months old today! Wowsers! How did that go by so fast? It's true how everyone says time flies and it's never more true than when you have children. And with kids number 2 & 3 it just seems to fly by at warp speed. You are just so busy making it through the days, weeks, night-time feedings, t-ball practices, after school activities, the rare and elusive workouts, and all the other daily events that you look up and months have flown by. I wish I had a pause button sometimes to really soak in the moments, but I guess my camera phone and this blog will have to do.
So, back to June and her month-day. As you can see from the pictures, the girl doesn't stop. She is one active, squirmy little monkey.
She still isn't walking but has started to stand up on her own from a seated position. It's interesting the way different kids do things differently. The boys walked before they could stand up alone. They would walk, fall down, and then have to crawl over to a structure to pull themselves back up to walk again. It will be fun to see how June does it when it's time.
June is an amazing eater. She will try ANYTHING! Her favorites are bananas, eggs, tomatoes, oatmeal, green beans, pizza crust, noodles, rice, yogurt, oranges, but wants to try whatever we are eating at the table. Just last night she ate pasta primavera full of roasted zucchini, squash, bell peppers, and onions and was screaming for more everytime her tray was empty. And since she is such an independent baby, she wants to feed herself everything. Yes, even oatmeal and yogurt and yes, it is disgustingly messy. She has cut back A LOT on nursing especially during the day. Also, she will take a bottle really well now, even from me. I'm by no means trying to wean her before she or I am ready, but it is nice to know that she doesn't hate the bottle anymore and that might be a good tool when it is time for the weaning process. Also, it gives me such piece of mind to actually see what is going into her system every once in a while. I know, I know that as a breastfeeding mom I'm supposed to trust my body and know that everything is going well because the proof is in a healthy, happy baby. But, I'm a control freak and it's a little hard sometimes to just trust, so an occasional bottle is just what I need to feel confident in my nursing abilities. She seems to have no problem switching between breast and bottle, so win-win!
June has lots of "tricks" now including clapping, dancing, and making a kissy face. She waves and says bye bye occasionally. She can say momma and sort of says dada with a growl. We think she's trying to copy Dan's deeper voice. She also has a sound and sign for nursing.
She's a little girl with a big personality and we are falling in love with her spunky little self more and more each day.
