June is joy...
willd adventure...
fun...
spunk...
sweetness...
and beauty....
all rolled into one perfectly unique little girl.
And while we have never had a child keep us on our toes the way that she does, we have also never laughed so much or been so infatuated with such a tiny person. She is our little bug and we are all so in love with her.
Addendum: At her last checkup, she weighed a whopping 18 lb 14 oz (not even on the charts) and was 30 inches tall (10%), so she's still June-sized! :)
Also, in case I ever forget about this monumental milestone(hahaha), she is completely weaned! It sort of happened naturally on her terms with just a little encouragement from me and Dan. She has been night weaned for a couple of months now and so she has become less and less interested in nursing because the night was her favorite time anyway. Well, a couple of weeks before Christmas, at bedtime, she lunged for her crib after we put her pj's on, without nursing first. So, we went with it. She sort of changed her mind in the middle of it, but Dan and I were just gently persistent with her, and she went to sleep just fine. The next couple of days, she took her nap on the go so she didn't nurse at that "normal" time either. So, by day 3 of going to bed without nursing and not nursing for naptime, I declared us done! She asked a couple of times later in the week, but I just distracted her without another fun activity. Now, more than a month has gone by, and she's totally adjusted and doesn't even seem to remember. It's a bittersweet feeling, but I felt totally fulfilled in our nursing relationship; she got all the love and affection she needed from it, and now we have moved to a new chapter in our relationship. What a beautiful thing!!
